Infrared Scan

Water has a significantly higher heat transfer coefficient than typical building materials. This means that, for example, a wet area of drywall will transfer heat at a higher rate than a dry area of drywall. Therefore if a leak has caused an area of building material to be wet there will typically be a temperature differential between the wet and dry areas. Infrared technology allows us to see energy (heat) on the infrared spectrum which would otherwise be invisible to the naked eye. Infrared technology paired with a qualified thermographer to interpret the data, can be incredibly effective in determining the source of moisture, as well as insulation deficiencies.

An infrared scan of all interior surfaces in search of moisture intrusion, leaks, and insulation deficiencies is a service we offer both standalone and in conjunction with a home inspection. Ask us how this service is different than the use of infrared cameras during our standard home inspection.
